Description:
An introduction to public access television and how to use the Access Tucson facilities and services. An Orientation session is prerequisite for all Access Tucson classes, program cablecasting or facility use.

Introduction to Access Production

Description
Learn to translate your ideas into television. Production planning, scripting, budgeting, and promotion are all covered in this class. Intro to Access is required for those who do not want to take technical training classes, but would like to produce programming.

Anchor Desk

Description
Be the host and the crew for your own live call-in talk show! Learn to use the specially designed anchor desk, which allows for simple control of cameras, titles and phones and seats up to four people. Live programs are 25 or 50 minutes in length and cablecast on Wednesday - Saturday evenings. Live-to-tape production times are also available on Friday afternoons.

Basic Studio Camera Operation

Description:
This class offers focused training on the Access Tucson studio cameras. The Cam Op class is designed to provide camera operator certification for those interested in becoming crewmembers for current or upcoming Access Tucson studio productions. This training certifies members to work in both studios or with the Remote Production Truck.

Studio Production

Description:
Superior technical quality, large production studios and live cablecast capability, the Access Tucson studios provide an exceptional production environment for your program. The Studio Production class provides comprehensive multi-camera production training. Studio lighting, audio, camera operation, and floor managing are covered in the first part of this course. Technical set-up and operation for the cameras, audio mixer, basic switching and directing skills comprise the second half of class.

Studio Graphics

Description:
Operation of the Compix character generator is for titles and credits. The Compix C.G. is used in the studio control rooms and with the Mini-Mobile production unit.

Digital Field Production

Description:
For the producer whose ideas take them outside a studio setting, this class provides instruction for producing on location. Single camera production techniques, location lighting, field audio, story boarding, shooting for editing and non-linear editing are all covered in this class.

Final Cut Express

Description:
This class provides instruction for the non-linear, computer-based editing program Final Cut Express. FCX is covered in the Digital Field Production Class. This class provides certification for producers with their own digital tape projects.

Final Cut Pro

Description:
This class provides instruction for the non-linear, computer-based editing program Final Cut Pro. This system offers more effects and options than the Final Cut Express system. Three FCP systems are available for use in the facility.

Waivers and Individual Trainings

Camera Training Workshops

Sony PD-150 Workshop
Training for the Sony Digital Camcorders for producers that were previously certified for Field Production. The class covers use of the camcorder, batteries and tripod. This camera currently is used in the Digital Field Production class.
Cannon XL-1 Workshop
Training for the Cannon XL-1 Digital Camcorders. This camcorder uses the Mini-DV tape format and is a smaller, user-friendly digital field camera. This camera is also used with the Access Tucson Mini-Mobile Production unit.
DVCPRO Workshop
Training for the Panasonic DVCPro Digital Camcorders. The class covers use of the camcorder, batteries and tripod.

Linear Editing

Description:
Training for tape-to-tape editing in the VHS, S-VHS or DVCPro formats. For projects that only require simple cuts-only editing, there is 1 edit suite for the VHS or S-VHS format and one for the DVCPro digital format.

Remote Production Classes

Access Tucson provides training for our remote production equipment on a project basis. These classes are offered to producers and their crew when a project has been scheduled with either the Mini-Mobile or the Production Truck. Please meet with a Facilitator to discuss these production options. We also offer these courses for volunteers that assist with Access Tucson community productions. Please see the front desk for a volunteer application.

Mini-Mobile Class

Description
The Mini-Mobile allows producers to create switched, multi-camera productions on location. This unit comes in 2 large portable cases to bring a small studio facility to your site or event. The MM includes 3 Sony PD-150 cameras, an audio mixer, video switcher, CG, and communications. The MM even has the capability to go live on the cable system from some locations. This resource requires Access Tucson staffing.

In one 4-hour session, this class will provide instruction for the Mini-Mobile setup and training for most of its production components, including power requirements, video and audio connections, the audio mixer, video switcher and headsets.

Production Truck Classes

Access Tucson's remote production truck is a high-end mobile studio facility for large community-based events. The truck includes; 3 broadcast quality cameras, a 24 channel audio mixer, video switcher and effects, CG and live cablecast capability. This production resource requires Access Tucson staff participation to drive the production truck and engineer your production. All truck projects must be facilitated and approved prior to training or scheduling.

Truck productions must be facilitated, approved and scheduled at least eight weeks in advance!

Description
Training for the truck cameras and tripods, plus audio and video cabling for the truck remotes.

Truck Control Room

Description:
This four-hour class provides training for technical support crewmembers on the truck control room audio and video systems. Includes instruction for; camera shading, tape operation, video systems: patching, routing, and test equipment.Communications: IFB and headset. Audio: Cabling, Mixing and patching.
